Newbie Statistics

Statistics (or stats) are your characters physical attributes. They consist of strength (str), dexterity (dex), wisdom (wis), intelligence (int) and constitution (con) and are quite an important part of the game.

Every race/class combination has a different set of maximum statistics and you can view yours by using the "stats" command. This will display something like the following:

-Str: 17[21] Int: 19[23] Wis: 19[23] Dex: 18[23] Con: 19[22]

The first number, before the brackets, is the raw statistic, the number in between the brackets is what the number is after taking your magical ability enhancements into account, as some equipment (and some spells as well) will enhance your statistics. The number in between the brackets is the number you will have to pay most attention to as you want this number to be as high as possible. If you want to know how high the number can go, use the "maxstats" command. If you compare the two, you can decide which equipment to wear to increase your characters attributes.
