[edit] Hafwen

If a story can be told with a glance or a chance meeting, it is not told this time. Appearances can be, and often are, very deceiving. A female of indeterminate age stands in the shadows. She is lean, not skinny, and slightly muscular. She appears to be Tolnedran, but something about her features seems off. Her face is smooth, and tanned well. Her reddish-brown hair is cropped to just below her ears. Most noticeable are her eyes, a clear and sharp blue, they move constantly as if she can see everything and misses nothing. She chews softly on a corner of her bottom lip as her eyes watch for movement. She wears a short-sleeved cotton tunic of about thigh length, colored a deep shade of forest green. Her legs are covered with tight-fitting cotton hose, mottled with shades of brown. Worn but comfortable-looking leather boots protect her feet from the elements. Her hands are uncovered, and she wears a silver band encrusted with emeralds and amethysts on her left hand. Her only other adornment is a thin silver chain with a silver, heart-shaped pendant hung around her neck. Her arms are tanned as if she spends much time in the sun, and a network of scars on her forearms hints at a possibly violent past. Her only visible weapons are a short sword, belted to her waist at the right side, and a small dagger strapped to her left thigh. A small leather pouch is tied tightly to her belt at her left side.

[edit] Eddings on Being a Writer

" 'Want' has almost nothing to do with it. It's either there or it isn't. If you happen to be one, you're stuck with it. You'll write whether you get paid for it or not. You won't be able to help yourself. When it's going well, it's like reaching up into heaven and pulling down fire. It's better than any dope you can buy. When it's not going well, it's much like giving birth to a baby elephant. " - David Eddings, The Rivan Codex p 17
